A new glove is great! But don't forget to work it in...
i can remember buying my first baseball glove with my Dad. The anticipation of choosing. The excitement when we paid. And then we rubbed some oil on it, put a ball in the pocket, tied a string around tight and left it on top of the fridge for two days. When we took the string off he twisted it and folded it to get get it nice and loose and then we played catch for the rest of the night. When i asked what that was for. He explained. The oil was to preserve the leather. You put a ball and tie the glove tight to create a pocket and then you have to work the glove and loosen it up. So the ball wants to just sit in it. And the glove becomes an extension of your hand.
I see a lot of new gloves out there. Don't forget to work them in. It's a lot easier to catch a ball when you can open and shut the glove.
